The boys and the girls studying hairdressing from IES Les Vinyes Highschool (Santa Coloma, Barcelona) who participate in our pilot training visited in June a social start-up and shared experiences with the owner, Lucía Zamora.
The visit was at Lucia Zamora’s Beauty Saloon in Ripollet, near Barcelona. Lucía experience was really rich for them. She started socially this business two years ago after a long experience working as a hairdresser for other companies.
When she decided to start, her social vision was clear: is the first saloon in the city with an ecofriendly perspective, using products more respectful with the environment in a sector where unfortunately this is not always evident (the use of chemicals and aggressive treatments for the skin and health is a common practice).
Her business is also a hub for neighbors, where they find a place to meet up and socialize including this environmental factor.
As some of the students commented after this visit, her testimony was very inspiring and the business is a good example that social starting-up is possible and suitable.
